Performances
Japanese street theater (Kamishibai) with Shunsuke Yamaguchi
12:30pm, Renaissance Court
Kamishibai was a form of Japanese street theater, popular from the 1930s through the post-war period. Stories were told by a kamishibaiya (“kamishibai narrator”), who travelled to street corners with illustrated boards that were placed in a stage-like creation. Pictures accompanied the stories, as with manga and anime. In this program, “Kamishibai Man”, Shunsuke Yamaguchi, tells two spring stories and then answers your questions.

Holy Cross Spring Concert
2pm, Renaissance Court
Holy Cross students and faculty bring a spring concert to WAM, developed as part of a community performance seminar taught by Professor Shirish Korde.
Developed and performed by students and guest faculty member, pianist Matt Jaskot, the program will present a concert of diverse musical pieces to “Celebrate Spring!”

Southeast Asia Coalition’s Worcester Youth Nian Dancers
3.15pm, Renaissance Court
The Lion Dance is a traditional performance that dates back over 1,000 years. It is a Chinese-Vietnamese custom that is believed to bring good luck, prosperity and peace into the Lunar New Year, birthdays, weddings, and other celebratory events.
