Can anyone use the collection files for research?

Yes. Appointments must be made in advance of visits to see object files by calling the Curatorial Department Office (see above).

Can you give monetary appraisals of art objects?

No, the museum cannot give monetary appraisals.

Are sketching and writing permitted in the galleries?

Yes, with graphite pencil only. (Other media pose too great a risk to the works of art.)

Is photography permitted?

Photography is allowed in the permanent collection galleries only. Photography is not allowed in Hiatt, PDP or Contemporary Galleries. Tripods are not permitted. The use of flash is not permitted; this includes flash installed within a camera. If the flash cannot be turned off, then the camera cannot be used. If there are requests for exceptions, these must be brought to the attention of the Registrar's Office. They can be reached by e-mail at images@worcesterart.org or by calling 508.793.4427.

Can anybody visit the Print, Drawing and Photography Room?

Yes, it is open to the public by appointment during public hours.

Must I know in advance what I want to see?

Yes. We need to know in advance what you want to see because the art is stored away. Pencil only is permitted in the Print, Drawing and Photography Room.
