"All philosophy is but a footnote to Plato," whose description of individuals trapped in a dark cave provides the great philosopher's metaphor for ignorance, potentially transformed into knowledge. Kristin Waters, philosophy teacher and researcher at Brandeis University and Worcester State University, invites contemplation of Robert Motherwell's "In Plato's Cave No. V" (1973-74), now on view in our Art Since the Mid-20th century galleries. Come shed some light.
