    birthday

The Worcester Art Museum is the perfect place for children to experience the wonder of art including the creation of their own masterpiece to take home with them. Choose from a variety of party themes based on your child's age and interest. The party begins with a tour of the museum galleries with a trained museum professional, followed by a hands-on art project in one of our art studios, culminating with time devoted to you and your guests - cake, gifts, and socializing.

Cost: $275 for non-members; $225 for museum members.
Party size is limited to 20 people.

There is no additional charge for materials.
Families are responsible for providing cake, refreshments, and decorations.
    Refrigeration/freezers are available upon request.

Birthday Parties can be scheduled on Saturdays starting at 3pm and running until 4:30pm. Dates are subject to availability. Please allow three to four weeks advanced notice for scheduling.

Booking: Please contact Jesse Rives at 508-793-4335 or jesserives@worcesterart.org.

    Exploring the Ancient World
    (Clay vases)

Visit ancient cultures, myths, and art in the galleries and then venture to the studios to create a clay vase. Paint your vase with images from ancient myths or from your own life.

    Medieval Madness
    (Heraldic Shields)

Explore the medieval Chapter House, and the Museum's Medieval and Renaissance galleries as you learn about knights, kings, queens, and castles. Back in the studio, create a personal shield using the system of heraldry to tell others about yourself. The birthday child will also have the unique opportunity to cut their birthday cake with a sword.

    The Art of the Letter

Inspired by the special exhibition, KAHBAHBLOOOM: The Art and Storytelling of Ed Emberley (on view November 16, 2016 - April 9, 2017), create a detailed single letter based on the first letter of your name.

    8 - 10 year olds

    Medieval Madness
    (Aluminum Tooling)

Travel back in time through the museum galleries to the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Inspired by suits of armor, art, and weapons, learn how armor was decorated and then draw your own designs to take home with you. The birthday child will have the unique opportunity to cut the birthday cake with a sword.

    Painting
(bring your own canvas home with you)

Have fun in the galleries looking at different styles of painting including Impressionism, Abstract/Modern, and American. Head back to the studio and become an artist, painting your own landscape or seascape.

    Optical Art

Inspired by the special exhibition, KAHBAHBLOOOM: The Art and Storytelling of Ed Emberley (on view November 16, 2016 - April 9, 2017), create your own piece of art.
