Adults Can Tap Creativity in Summer Art Classes at Worcester Art Museum
(WORCESTER, MASS., March 14, 2003)-Worcester Art Museum offers an assortment of classes and one- and two-day workshops for adults during the seven-week summer session, beginning May 5. Students of all skill levels benefit from the unique opportunity to view and learn from masterworks in the Museum's galleries before creating art in the studios.
An Adult Class Open House, on Thursday, April 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., offers the public a chance to visit the studios, meet instructors, attend demonstrations and view the work of winter session students. The Open House is free, and refreshments will be served.
The novice artist can find a start in new beginnings classes specially geared toward learning the basics, choosing from Drawing for People Who Can't Draw a Straight Line, Drawing I, or the Beginner's Art Studio Sampler.
As summer approaches, students can learn to bring art outdoors in Sculpture for the Garden or Introduction to Mosaics, or bring the outdoors in with Landscape Drawing and Painting. Or they can prepare for wedding and graduation season with a calligraphy class, capture their story in Writing Your Life, or experiment with Colored Pencil Techniques.

A cultural jewel of New England, the Worcester Art Museum first opened to the public in 1898. Its exceptional 35,000-piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints and drawings is displayed in 36 galleries and spans 5,000 years of art and culture, ranging from Egyptian antiquities and Roman mosaics to Impressionist paintings and contemporary art.
