This special two-part series by Director Emeritus James A. Welu coincides with George Clooney's latest Hollywood film, The Monuments Men. Four of the Monuments Men played important roles at the Worcester Art Museum. Three served as Director: Francis Henry Taylor, Charles Sawyer, and George Stout; and one as curator, Perry Cott. From the teaching of camouflage to serving as a site for military enlistment, the Worcester Art Museum was greatly affected by World War II. Learn how the Museum ensured the safety of its collections while keeping its audience abreast of the war in Europe and the Pacific through special exhibitions. This not-to-be-missed class will surprise you with many fascinating stories about the Museum's commitment to its community and the nation.
Includes Lecture #2: A Closer Look, Sunday, March 9, 2:30-4 PM

Above: Former Worcester Art Museum Director George L. Stout / George Clooney as Frank Stokes
