Higgins Integration Campaign
With the spring 2013 announcement that the Higgins Armory Collection would be integrated within the legacy art collections at Worcester Art Museum, Higgins and WAM leadership leaped into action to create an integration implementation plan and project budget. From these actions, the evolving Integration Plan and the Higgins Integration Campaign were launched. The initial forecasts target a plan with a price-tag of $12 million.
The Museum is pleased to report that five local foundations have provided lead “jump-start” grants: the George I. Alden Trust, the Fred Harris Daniels Foundation Inc., The Fletcher Foundation, the George F. and Sybil H. Fuller Foundation, and the Stoddard Charitable Trust. ; and one generous national private foundation’s challenge grant [The Manton Foundation]. The Museum has already achieved nearly one-half of its $12 Million goal. To date (November 2013), $5.8 Million has been contributed or pledged in support of Higgins Jump-Start Campaign initiatives, and $700,000 in additional grant requests have been submitted and are pending funder decisions. The Knights are arriving!
