Notes
1. This portrait has also been attributed to John Smibert (Tuckerman 1867, 42); to John Singleton Copley (Worcester Art Society 1880, n.p.); and to John Johnston (L[    ]. 1915, [5], 8). The portrait was correctly attributed to Christian Gullager in Forbes 1930a, 4, 13, but the illustration represents a portrait of Rebecca Salisbury Waldo that is by an unknown artist (Worcester Art Museum). Rebecca Salisbury Waldo (Mrs. Daniel Waldo) has also been published as Mrs. Daniel Waldo (Earle 1910, 555); Mrs. Daniel Waldo (Rebecca Salisbury) (Sadik 1976, 18); Mrs. Daniel Waldo Sr. (Rebecca Salisbury) (Worcester Art Society 1891, n.p.); Mrs. Rebecca (Salisbury) Waldo (Lincoln 1902, I, opp. 162); Portrait (Mrs. Daniel Waldo) (Worcester Art Society 1880, n.p.); Portrait of Mrs. Daniel Waldo, Sr. (Worcester 1922, 188); and Rebecca (Salisbury) Waldo (Mrs. Daniel Waldo) (Dresser 1949b, 160).
