Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI)

To create an RTI image, the surface is photographed multiple times at the same location (40 in this case) but at different lighting angles. A computer algorithm calculates the angle of light that creates the greatest reflection at each pixel. Combining and processing the photographs with this program creates an RTI file. With an interactive program, the user can control the lighting conditions on the surface and add enhancements to the rendering to accentuate surface features.
