3a. Comparison with a similar La Venta object (1/2)

Worcester's Incised Standing Figure compares favorably with portable sculptures excavated at La Venta and with others, such as this Standing Figure now in the Dumbarton Oaks collection, Washington said to come from La Venta. The Washington statuette, although made from lighter-colored jadeite rather than the dark gray Serpentine stone of Worcester's example, strikes a similar pose with upraised arms and is drilled and cut in a comparable style.
