    Worcester is an All-America city!

Worcester has been selected by the National Civic League for the All-America City 2000 Award. This is the fifth award that Worcester has received in the program's 51 years. Eighty-three Worcester delegates traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, on June 2, 2000 to compete to become one of only ten winners from across the nation. According to Worcester City Manager Thomas R. Hoover, “The All-America City Award demonstrates that our citizens care deeply about one another and are willing to put their time and resources into making a difference.” Congratulations to the people and organizations that help make Worcester an All-America City!

The Worcester Art Museum was founded “for the benefit of all,” and has worked to that end for more than a century. While the Museum interacts with the community in many obvious ways, it maintains other relationships as well. The Museum is a transitional employment site for the Genesis Club, which provides assistance to people in the Worcester community recovering from mental illness. In collaboration with the College of the Holy Cross the Museum maintains the largest fine arts reference library in central Massachusetts. The Museum collaborates with numerous educational institutions through its internship program. The Museum is a member of the Worcester Chamber of Commerce. In addition, we have a strong relationship with our sponsors.

    Becoming a Volunteer

Volunteers are always welcome. From preparing invitations for an upcoming event to acting as an ambassador, volunteering is such an important part of the Museum there is an office dedicated to attract, train and coordinate volunteers. To become a part of the volunteer program, please contact Kathryn Balistrieri at 508.799.4406 x3079.
