    Flora in Winter 2008, The Gale, Winslow Homer

    Thursday through Sunday, February 5-8

    The Museum comes alive for our 7th annual Flora in Winter celebration. Worcester Art Museum and Tower Hill Botanic Garden collaborate to host Flora in Winter, the premier floral design event of the year. It is a succulent feast for the eyes and spirit in the middle of winter. At the Museum, 23 works from the collection are interpreted in flowers. Public spaces are adorned by area florists.     At the Worcester Art Museum

    Opening Celebration: Flora Euphoria
    Thursday, February 5, 5:30-8pm
    Renaissance Court/Galleries
    No RSVP required. $10 WAM or THBG Members; $20 for nonmembers.
    Join us Thursday night and enjoy the flowers at their freshest. Breathe in the aroma of spring, wander the galleries, visit with friends, or just be inspired! Live music, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar add to the evening’s festivities.

    Demonstration: Interpretive Challenge Class
    Friday, February 6, 2-4pm
    Renaissance Court
    No RSVP required. Free with admission.
    Watch and learn as a select group of arrangers craft interesting floral designs inspired by the Wall at WAM: Actions Speak. The finished arrangements will be on view to enjoy for the duration of Flora.
    Arrangements will be raffled.

    Demonstration and Boxed Lunch: Turning Over a New Leaf
    Saturday, February 7, 12–2pm
    Conference Room, Higgins Education Wing
    $18 WAM and THBG Members; $28 nonmembers (includes Museum admission). For reservations call 508.799.4406 x3025. Instructor/Flower Designer Cathy Walsh reveals great ideas used by professionals and flower enthusiasts alike to create floral masterpieces with a “green” theme.
    Arrangements will be raffled.

    Artist Demonstration
    Saturday, February 7, 3-6pm
    Join a WAM faculty member as they create a work of art based on a floral display.

    Renaissance Court No RSVP required. Free with admission.
    The All Saints Choirs under the direction of Peter Stoltzfus-Berton will provide ambience for the final afternoon of Flora in Winter.

    Worcester Art Museum and Audio Journal join forces to make the popular Flora in Winter arrangements accessible to people with visual impairments. All are welcome!

    Directions & Parking
    The Worcester Art Museum is located at 55 Salisbury Street, just off Route 290 and is approximately 45 minutes from Boston, 4o minutes from Providence, and 1 hour from Hartford. The Museum sits on one block. The main entrance is located on Lancaster Street with an additional barrier free entrance located on Tuckerman Street. Free parking is available at the Salisbury Street lot, off Lancaster Street in the designated WAM Visitors lot, and at the Tuckerman Street lot for barrier free entrance. Please see our directions for specific route information.
