The Art of the Quilt

Instructor: Heidi Bercovick

For Every Class:
1. Rotary Cutter
2. Self-healing cutting mat
3. Quilters ruler
4. Pins
5. Scissors
6. Iron and table top ironing board (i'll bring mine, so if yvu don't have one, we can share)
7. Needle and Thread
8. COTTON Batting for pinning projects to the wall (It i.~ important that it is cotton. Fabric does not stick to polyester batting.)

For the First Class:
4 yards solid black cotton
4 yards solid white cotton

For all Subsequent Classes:
Bring remainder of your black and white plus:
A good variety of cotton representing the entire range of COLOR or HUE (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, beige, grey)
and the entire range of VALUES (light, light medium, medium, medium dark and dark) in 1/2 yard - 1 yard cuts (some fat quarters are fine, but they aren't very versatile). You can bring solids, prints, stripes, batiks, whatever you like so long as you have a wide variety of value and hue.

Fusible Web
In the middle of the session we will use fusible web. This goes by the name Wonder Under and lots of different names. It is NOT interfacing. Make sure it has a paper backing on one side. Start with 2 yards. You can always buy more (it is cheap).

We will not use sewing machines in this class.
