Still Life Oil Painting

Instructor: Alexander Farquharson

First Class:
1. Sketch pad
2. Pencil
3. Any oil painting materials you may already have

Materials (to be elaborated upon in first class):
1. 16"x20" canvas boards, stretched canvases, or panels
2. acrylic gesso and assorted acrylic colors for imprimatura
3. assortment of bristle and specialty brushes
4. Winsor & Newton LIQUIN painting medium
5. Odorless paint thinner (Thin-X)
6. Palette (paper disposable or wooden) and palette knife
7. Paper towels and a metal screw cap container to hold thinner
8. Basic color palette of pigments: W&N underpainting White, Yellow ochre, cadmium yellow light, cadmium red medium, raw sienna, burnt umber, burnt sienna, raw umber, alizarin crimson, thalo blue

Note: For those students who wish to avoid working with traditional solvents, the new water soluble oils are acceptable.
