Encaustic Painting Workshop

1. Slide of Examples of artwork
2. Apron or painting skirt
3. Mark making tools (pencil, crayons, markers, etc…)
4. Collage materials of any kind (organic or inorganic)
5. Fresh B&W xeroxes for image transfers on wax -Please photocopy before workshop
6. Additional masonite or plywood board panels (no bigger than 16"x16") or sculpture/ceramic, made of wood, plaster, or unglazed clay.

Optional:

1. Drawing or printmaking paper (100% rag), or pieces of unprimed linen or cotton canvas (the paper and canvas can be glued to wood/ masonite panels to give them an absorbent white ground)
2. White or off-white, absorbent, Japanese rice paper for mono-printing (several small sheets) to be used making mono-prints off the hot palette. Rice paper works the best.

*Painting supports for encaustic must be rigid and absorbent. You should not use stretched canvas or acrylic gesoed grounds. Rigid supports should be braced to prevent warming. **A limited supply of extra clayboard and luan panels will be available for purchase during the workshop.
