Dining in Roman Antioch

Antiochenes knew how to party! Wealthy citizens enjoyed luxurious meals in their decorated houses, and a reconstructed dining room from a second-century house illustrates how they dined. The famous Worcester mosaic, The Drinking Contest between Dionysos and Herakles, is joined with matching parts from the Louvre (Judgement of Paris), Baltimore Art Museum of Art (Satyr, and Dancing Maenad), and Princeton Art Museum (Aphrodite and Adonis). This gallery also includes glassware, silverware, mosaics, statuary, and a garden with a fountain and greenery.
